The St. Charles Regional Cancer Program and Bank of the Cascades annually presents The Hope Couture, the Sara Fisher Fashion Show Benefit.

The fashion show event Hope Couture began in 1992 as the premiere fundraising event for the Sara Fisher Breast Cancer Project. Hope Couture brings together Central Oregon businesses, organizations and community members at the 14th annual event which includes a high energy fashion show, silent auction, and a touching tribute to all those impacted by breast cancer. Over 400 people, including many breast cancer survivors, attend each year to support this significant community project. All proceeds go directly to the Sara Fisher Breast Cancer Project of the St. Charles Foundation.

Sara Fisher Breast Cancer Project

Sara’s Project is a unique, comprehensive, cooperative, breast health education effort led by St. Charles Medical Center — Bend area physicians, community members, breast cancer survivors, and friends and family of Sara Fisher.

Sara—cherished teacher, counselor and active community volunteer—died in the fall of 1992 after a seven-year battle with breast cancer. Sara was an advocate for women’s health. In her honor, Sara’s Project continues to promote women’s health through research, education, outreach and support services.

For more information on Sara’s Project, contact Peggy Carey at (541) 706-6870.

The following are just a few examples of the Sara’s Project endeavors:

Education
A health educator and trained community volunteers are available to conduct educational presentations and programs regarding breast cancer early detection and risk reduction to schools, community organizations, businesses or other interested groups. Educational materials such as videos, brochures, pamphlets and books are available.

Breast screenings
Sara’s Project partners with public health agencies, area physicians and mammography facilities to provide breast health screenings to women in central and eastern Oregon. Women may qualify if they are uninsured or underinsured and meet eligibility guidelines.

Community breast cancer case managers
The community breast cancer case managers are nurses and members of the medical team working to provide quality, efficient and cost-effective patient care. The case managers are available to help ensure that women with breast cancer have the information and assistance they need through the diagnostic, treatment and recovery phases of breast cancer.

The case managers can assist with the organization of appointments and help work with physicians, clinics, hospitals, insurers and support networks.

Navigator Program
The Navigator Program is a network of breast cancer survivors who are available to provide resource information and support to newly diagnosed women and women with an abnormal finding that may be related to breast cancer.
